History
Work began on 13 October 1594 to a design by Francesco Zamberlan. The wooden dome of 1603 proved unstable and was replaced by a pitched roof in 1606. In 1655 Baldassare Longhena designed the bell tower, completed much later. Through the 17th and 18th centuries the interior was decorated with canvases by Francesco Maffei, Antonio Zanchi and others.
